Today is Allen's birthday, and we are so blessed to be celebrating two wonderful years with our little angel! We pray that these two years are indicative of the rest of his life; he is happy, healthy, smart, sweet, energetic, curious, loving, and blessed by family and friends. We're trying to keep up with pictures and videos, but here are a few tidbits about Allen at two years old that may not be captured in images. (Party pics and recap coming soon). At two years old Allen...
-uses lots of words, phrases, and sentences to talk
- some common phrases we hear are: "I don't want it/any." "No way" "Thank You" "I want ___ please" "yummy, yummy" "again" "Allen/Daddy/I did it" "Daddy fix it" "Daddy's home!"
- is learning names and loves to talk about his friends and family
-makes lots of associations across time and situations (ex. pointed to diamond design on plate and said "diamond" then started singing twinkle, twinkle)
-knows what people like (ex. daddy's gum in the store, and Toy Story for Nathan)
- loves to sing. Some favorites are ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and some that we make up
-loves to climb anything and everything
-is great at throwing, hitting, and kicking the ball
-likes to ride his bike (and new scooter)
-wants to do everything himself...everything!
-loves playing with friends and visiting family
-is great at school - not a bad report yet!
-wants Mommy, Daddy, and Allen to all be together (whenever one of us is not here, he asks for them and when were all together he happily says our names)
-gets through undesired tasks (hair washing and teeth brushing) by singing songs
-usually starts his morning with milk, cheerios, and Barney
-loves Elmo
-knows most of his letters, shapes, colors, and numbers
-proudly announces that he's two
-loves to color, write, and use his dry erase board
-reads books every night
-usually sleeps about 8pm-7am and takes a 2 hour nap (but often wakes up early and comes to bed for a snuggle or snooze with Mommy and Daddy)
-goes to the church nursery without crying
-proudly shows off his work from school or church
-likes to play with cars, balls, blocks, tools, puzzles, batteries, and art
-can jump with 2 feet off the ground and land
-wants to take pictures with the digital camera and then look at them
-has fun watching himself in pictures and videos
-still eats well but not quite as much - some favorites are veggie packs, avocado, drinkable yogart, grapes, green peas, peanut butter crackers, cheerios, milk, and water
